Toys For Tots 2010

This year’s Toys For Tots campaign was a great one comprised of the Second Annual Red Hat Ladies Spaghetti Dinner, our Detachment Christmas party and ending with the Sgt Santa Day at the VFW in Berkley.
Over 350 toys and over $400.00 in cash were collected and hopefully made Christmas brighter for many children in the Metro Detroit area.
Marine Wing Support Group 47 at Selfridge lent us a few good men resplendent in their Dress Blues and putting a “face” on the Toys For Tots Program. Many thanks to CWO Rich Pointe, GySgt Douglas Madajczyk and LCpls Robert Tykoski and Adam Richey for facing the cold wind and working in shifts to attract the attention of cars passing the VFW. Many returned with toys or cash.

Members working the event were Mike and Julie Lynch, Ken and Judy Murray, Al Kanigowski, Terry Dowhan, Don Lumsden, Rob Nast and Keith Unternahrer. The Boy Scout Troop from the VFW also assisted with carrying packages, clean up and other duties. Thanks boys! Special thanks to Jr Vice Tim McGee for being Sgt Santa! Can’t say enough about that…

Chaplain Keith Unternahrer made breakfast for all and it was some good chow!
All things considered, the results were great as this was our first year independent of the Troy connection. Great job!
