About Us

Who we are:

The Cpl. Stanley Moore Detachment #159, Marine Corps League, Berkley, MI is a Detachment in the Marine Corps League, providing a meeting place for all Marines and FMF Corpsmen who have served or are serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Our Mission:

We are dedicated to service to our Country, to Each Other and to our Community. We provide support to Veterans who are in need. We participate in Scholarship Funding for the children of Marines. We organize and campaign for Toys For Tots, a USMCR program to provide needy children with a bit of happiness at Christmas. In addition, we support and are involved with veteran support at the Dingell VA Center in Detroit, providing a respite from the serious business of healing by an evening per month of Bingo and prizes.

Our History

The Cpl Stanley L. Moore Detachment was founded in 1970 in Royal Oak, Michigan by a group of Marines in the area. The Detachment was named in honor of the first Marine from Oakland County to lose his life in Viet Nam. 2020 is the 50th Anniversary of the founding and we still have a couple of the founding members on our rolls.
